Machu Picchu, A Wonder Of The World By Mariscela Alvarez, Free Your Spirit

To describe the city of Machu Picchu, is to limit its magic and magnificence to words. One has to be there and feel its presence in your entire being.  Nevertheless, I will share some important information from the experts who continue finding more details to uncover the meaning of the Sacred City of Machu Picchu.  I'll also share my insights based on my personal and spiritual perception.

One of the most spectacular rediscoveries in the history of archeology, occurred in 1911, when Hiram Bingham, a young US explorer was shown the city of Machu Picchu by some local residents.  Thanks to the work of Hiram Bingham and his team, this mystical place was brought into the world.

The Lost City of the Inkas lies 43 miles northwest of the city of Cusco, at an altitude of 7,700 feet above sea level.  It's located in the remote Urubamba Valley north of Cusco, above the Urubamba River.  Machu Picchu, meaning "old mountain" in Quechua (the ancient language of the Andean cultures), is surrounded by Huayna Picchu (young mountain) and the Putukusi mountain.

Invisible from below and covered by clouds in the early morning, this enigmatic archeological city emanates a sacred spiritual energy and impressive remains of a well organized civilization.  Machu Picchu was a well-planned city with some 150 houses, terraces, baths and complex ceremonial architecture such as palaces and temples.  This city was a clear example of great sophistication and wealth of the largest empire in South America, ruled by the Inka.

Machu Picchu was a center of worship and an astronomical observatory and also believed to be the royal retreat or country palace of the Inka ruler, Pachacutec and his family.  A recent theory suggests that this majestic city was abandoned at the time of the Spanish invasion and never found by the Spaniards, allowing its preservation as one of the wonders of the world.

Within the city of Machu Picchu one can visit and feel the energy of the Guardhouse, a ceremonial rock terrace, The Main Gate to access the city, the agricultural zones, the Temple zone (as the Three Windows Temple and the Temple of the Condor.)  One can also observe the "Intiwatana" (Hitching post of the Sun) a solar observatory where the coming of the equinoxes and the solstices were precisely observed.  Moreover, you can visit the Main Square or Central Plaza, the Ceremonial Rock, the Royal enclosures, fountains, towers, agricultural and storage areas.

As I observed in more depth the location and details of this city, I understood that every single stone was used for a specific purpose and placed in an auspicious place.  Every room was built to provide a sacred space and designed to carry a special energy.  Nothing was placed by mistake or built at random.  The building of this city was inspired by something more meaningful than just surviving or gathering.

As my friend, Mallku Aribalo states in his book "The Awakening of the Puma", "All the ancient cultures of the world have paid homage to the sacred aspects of nature.  It was their main point of reference in the building of their temples, altars and palaces...The mountains where always the guardians, where the protector entities lived, maintaining contact with the world..."  "...the mountains were like natural pyramids, places of great magnetic concentration.  Is this magnetism and power that the Andean people felt and recognized as the energetic force that resided in these high realms..."

Beyond the physical beauty and logical understanding of this magnificent city, Machu Picchu took me into a spiritual journey where I felt one with Pachamama and the elements of nature.  As I stood at the top of a mountain extending my arms to embrace the energy of Intitaita (father sun), I felt as if I could glide like a condor, to the highest places in the valley.  Tears of reverence for all creation poured down my face while my heartbeat resembled the beat of the Native American drum.  I knew at that moment that I connected with my heritage, my ancestors, and my soul family from the Andes.  My life felt complete, as I understood that my choice to serve others was made a long, long time ago.

There are many places on our planet where we can feel being uplifted by the magical energy of our ancestors.  Machu Picchu is one of them and as James Tiberonn from Earth Keeper & Archangel Metatron expresses “It is the quickening of time, the expansion of your awareness, the deepening of your senses, the abilities waking in you not to just dream of a better time, but to create a New Ascended Earth!  We tell you than in fact there are places on the living planet that have already Ascended.  There are places on your planet that are pulsing with the joy of higher dimension…we speak at this time of Machu Picchu!  For it is one such infinite point that has already ascended.”

I wish for you what I've experienced for myself, to be initiated in the Inca path of harmonious living with all creation.
